· RESIDENTIAL REFRESHER:

(Recurrent Training).  This is a 4 evening class that will include residential wiring practices, services, branch circuits, wiring devices, 2008 NEC Code Updates and the latest in technology for the residential market.  The class will be taught by Jamie McNamara.   This course has been approved by the Electrical Licensing and Inspection Unit for  16 Code hours.  This is a 4 evening/4 hour class. · SIGNIFICANT CHANGES:

This is a new course reviewing changes for the 2008 National Electrical Code.   This will be a 4 evening, 4 night class.  This class is being taught by Cari Williamette,  inspector for the City of St. Paul.  This class has been approved by the Electrical Licensing and Inspection Unit for 16 Code hours of continuing education credits.  SEE CLASS SCHEDULE FOR MORE DETAILS.

 

 

· TRANSFORMERS FOR JOURNEYMEN:

This course focuses on introducing Journeymen students to the 2008 National Electrical Code (NEC) Article 450 in the installation and protection of various types of electrical transformers.  This course will cover single phase, three phase, autotransformer (buck-boost), control and instrument (current and voltage) transformers utilizing the NEC and accepted field installation practices.  Service conductor installation procedures covered in NEC Article 230 will be covered as well as Switchboard and Panel board requirements in NEC Article 408.

This course also provides hands-on practice hooking up various transformer configurations including:  single phase low and high voltage connections.  Three phase Wye high and low voltage connections.  Three phase Delta high and low voltage connections.  Three phase Open Delta high and low voltage connections.  Single and Three phase autotransformer (buck-boost) connections.  This course has been submitted to the Electrical Licensing and Inspection Unit for 4 Technical hours and 12 Code hours of continuing education credits.  This is an 8 night course (3 hours per night, 24 hours total).  The instructors are Mike Towle and Mike Gruber.

 

· WELDING—(BASIC):                

The JATC will be offering a 7 night basic Welding class/3 hours per night.  The instructor is Rick Dahlstrom who was in charge of the Welding program at St. Paul College and has recently retired.  He will be teaching Stick and MIG Welding.  Included is Acetylene and Plasma cutting techniques.  We have added two additional welding units and can now accommodate 7 students.  SEE CLASS SCHEDULE FOR MORE DETAILS.
