Notice To All Interested Parties Regarding
Power Limited Technician Applicants:
Senate File 1355, which allows applicants that submit an
application for the power limited technician examination by
September 30, 2005 to qualify for the examination without
meeting the 36-month experience requirement, was signed into
law by the Governor on May 23rd. There is no deadline for
applicants to take the examination. This law takes effect
on May 24, 2005. Although applicants are not required to meet
the experience requirements under this provision, they must
still submit an application and pass the power limited technician
examination to qualify to become licensed.
Interested persons may access an application under "personal
licensing forms" and information specific to the examination
as well as examination scheduling under "license examination
guide" at http://www.electricity.state.mn.us/Elec_lic/Pers_lic/index.html.
Persons who do not have Internet access may request an application
packet by calling 651-642-0800.
Upon receiving a properly completed application and examination
fee of $35, the applicant will be notified that they are approved
to take the power limited technician examination and provided
instructions on how to schedule their examination.
Applicants and interested parties are reminded that, except
in very limited instance, technology circuit and system work
is required to be performed by persons licensed as a Technology
System or Electrical contractor, or by persons employed (income
reported on a W-2 form) by a company licensed as a Technology
System or Electrical contractor. A power limited technician
license is not a contractor license. Interested parties may
request a contractor application packet by calling 651-642-0800,
or e-mailing their request to electricity.board@state.mn.us.
